Drug Awareness

The
most insidious and devastating enemy our nation has ever faced is
substance abuse by our youth As Elks we must dedicate our efforts to
educate the youth of America to the dangers of drug and alcohol
abuse. We must make Drug Awareness a priority. This committee has
much work to do and it will always need and welcome any help. Join
us for the annual Elks Walkout on Drugs.

Hoop Shoot

A
fun youth activity which takes place in late November every year.
There is always plenty of help on hoop shoot day. Planning and prep
could always use a boost. |
Soccer Shoot

Another youth activity the shoot takes place in early September. We
did not participate last year. This committee needs a chairman along
with additional committee members. |

The Elks National Foundation provides more than $3.64 million in college scholarships each year through its three scholarship programs. Our Lodge not only participates nationally but gives out
awards to relatives of members of our lodge. The application process and deadlines vary for each program. All applications must go through a local Elks Lodge before reaching the Elks National Foundation office. Contact your high school counselor for more information or your local Elks Lodge.

Brigantine Youth Alliance

The Brigantine Youth Alliance meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 7-8 P.M. as needed. This is a group of mid-to-upper high-school-aged youth representatives fr om local youth groups; including: Girl Scouts; St. Thomas Alive; Crossroads; and Kids for South Jersey Cancer Fund, and a representative from the Student Council, that meet monthly to discuss what each group is doing and to see how they might support each other's work. They also discuss ways that they might work together to support the community and current Elks Programs.

Elks Lodge #2428 is also the chartering organization for Cub Scout Pack 23 of the Boy Scouts of America and sponsor several scouting activities, such as the Pinewood Derby, throughout the year.
The cub scouts hold their monthly pack meetings at our lodge the second Thursday of each month.
